Chet Faker feat Kilo Kish “Melt”

Highly acclaimed Australian electronic musician Chet Faker has popped his scruffy little face up again after his award winning debut album, Thinking in Textures, to release his latest single “Melt” featuring Brooklyn vocalist Kilo Kish. The duo set it off with this deliciously harmonious track that works particularly well for the broken-hearted.

Rhythmically it’s perfect, and vocally it’s haunting. Chet’s voice is sad and lonely; imagine him walking around his apartment in a dirty bathrobe and white tube socks with a hole in the toe, while drinking coffee non-stop and scribbling notes. Kilo cuts in with a nonchalant tone that slides like butter on breakfast toast, perfectly unfazed like, “I see you’re not doing too well; life goes on kid.” The hook is a little Aloe Blacc-ish, but the synth backing keeps it nice and original. Light church organs in the background and 70’s keyboard hits haunt my dreams at night because of this song. Like a fucked up love relationship with a ghost, or something straight out of American Horror Story season one.

In addition to streaming the song above, Downtown Records also released “Melt” for sale on iTunes. More of Chet’s tracks, along with dates for his first North American headlining tour–including Chicago’s own Lincoln Hall 9/15–are below.
