REPLAY! Rollins Band “Liar”

[REPLAY! is a weekly feature where Jesus Face jumps in the DeLorean to review an ancient “music video.” It’s like Throwback Thursday except it sounds a lot cooler and doesn’t have a #hashtag.]

There are a good amount of people that I know that are not too big on Henry Rollins after his Black Flag days. I say fuck them. “Liar” is one of my favorite Rollins tracks, and as a matter of fact, I enjoyed the entire album.

I related to it when I was younger. I think what drew me to this track from the start was how it comes off as if its gonna be a compassionate track with a slow jazz sound, like some kind of spoken word song, and then the guitars and the drums come in and completely contradict the entire intro. The contrast is so good and it works really well together. Also, you can’t go wrong with Henry Rollins yelling. The video is rather entertaining as well.
